The Quilted Coat | Shop this Rainy Day Look

While doing a late spring clean of my closet, I rediscovered some cool outerwear, including the still unworn with tags intact French Connection Aris reversible quilted longline coat. Amid a stretch of rainy days here in NYC and a renewed commitment to making the most of what I already own, I decided to give this coat a moment to shine again.

Its quilted texture, detachable hood and generous length made it the perfect outer layer for a damp afternoon. And it proved to be quite versatile as I styled it over and over again from a lightweight midi dress and lug boot to a wide leg denim jean and denim shirt (love a Canadian tuxedo moment). Each look felt purposeful yet effortless. The reversible design gave me the option to play with contrast and color, adding another touch of versatility.

Though the Aris coat is no longer available, there are plenty of similarly elevated styles worth considering. Look for longline silhouettes with quilting that feels structured but not bulky. Coats like Boden’s Quilted Belted Coat or the ba&sh Quilted Taped Jacket, all echo that same balance of function and polish.
